A non-iodized sea salt mixture (Dead Sea salt is for sale at jay's): Dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized (iodine-free) sea salt into one cup (8oz) of warm distilled or bottled water. A stronger mixture is not better; a saline solution that is too strong can irritate the piercing.
A mild, fragrance-free liquid soap-preferably anti-microbial or germicidal. (Dr. bronner's soap for sale at jay's)
- Wash hands.
- Saline soak your piercing (see picture above) for 5 - 10 minutes.
- Clean with Anti-bacterial soap.
- Rinse with clean water.
- Gently pat dry.
Do this twice a day. Morning and night.
For mouth and tongue
- Rinse mouth with anti-bacterial mouth rinse (alcohol free) according to manufacture specifications.
- Rinse mouth with saline rinse.
Do these twice a day, and for tongues use mouth rinse after eating and/or drinking, except water.
